Oct. 11, 2012 marks the first day of the “Year of Faith” in the Catholic Church.
The opening of this “Year of Faith” coincides with the 50th Anniversay of the Second Vatican Council, which opened in 1962. During the next 12 months the faithful are encouraged to deepen their personal faith by coversion experiences.
As our own Bishop Leonard Blair of the Diocese of Toledo wrote recently …
“the Year of Faith is an opportunity for Catholics to experience a conversion – to turn back to Jesus and enter into a deeper relationship with him. The “door of faith” is opened at one’s baptism, but during this year Catholics are called to open it again, walk through it and rediscover and renew their relationship with Christ and his Church.”
An brief informational video on the “Year of Faith” by Bishop Blair is shown below.
Also, throughout this “Year of Faith” our Home will be offering opportunities for our Residents to deepen their faith each month through such activities as the praying of the Rosary and Eucharistic Adoration, outings to local Shrines, watching faith-themed movies, and faith-sharing groups.
