Our Little Sisters and Residents watched a DVD about the life of Ven. Fr. Solanus Casey the evening before the Pilgrimage. On arriving at the Pilgrimage, we were amazed at the huge and modern shrine in the middle of a very depressed area of Detroit. The shrine was remodeled in 2002 and has many interactive pieces, a large Chapel, a Dining Room, many displays and memorabilia of Fr. Casey. Another very interesting part was the display of bronze statue of modern day holy people. It has the actual room that Fr. Casey used. We sat at his desk and touched his door. We prayed at his tomb and left notes of prayer petitions.
We attended the Lenten Mass and later in the afternoon, went back for the healing service. It was packed with people and very inspiring.
