The Rotary Internationals motto is “Service above self.” Like the Little Sisters, Rotarians around the world strive to serve others through their efforts both large and small. Last Saturday, many Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Toledo helped fulfill that goal of Service, by doing a spring cleanup of our grounds here at the Sacred Heart Home. The Community Service Committee of the Toledo Rotary Club, led by Bob Ampthor, did a great job in organizing this annual service project to benefit the Little Sisters.
The Rotarians were led by our Master Gardener – Bill Lindeman and helped to clean up and beautify the numerous flower beds around our Home, as well as the Coy fish pond area. We have over 40 acres of land at our Home and just cannot take care of it all with our limited resources. We rely heavily on the volunteerism and service of others in our community to help us maintain our grounds.
These Rotarians did a great job and had a lot of fun helping us with this service project. The Rotary Club of Toledo and its Foundation has been very generous in helping the Little Sisters for many years with grants that have allowed us to purchase new transport vehicles and computer equipment for our Home. These donations have helped the Little Sisters to continue their Mission of Serving the Neediest Elderly from our community. We thank Rotary for all it has done for us and so many others in our community, and wish them many more years of success with their club.
