St. Joseph Feast Day on March 19th is always a very special day at the Little Sisters in all their Homes, because St. Joseph has always had a special relationship with the Little Sisters. Since the founding of their order, the Little Sisters have recognized St. Joseph as their Patron and Protector.
Here at the Sacred Heart Home we celebrate this day by inviting into our Home the Bishop and Priests of our Diocese for liturgy and a special luncheon. This year we were blessed to have Bishop Leonard Blair, retired Bishop Robert Donnelly, and numerous Priests from the Diocese of Toledo as our guests. We were also surprised when WNWO TV showed up to report on this special celebration.
We celebrated liturgy together with our guests, then afterwards the Priest and Bishop Blair served wine to our Residents and visited with them during their lunch. Two of our Residents, Mr. and Mrs. Mario and Rita Cardone, shared with Bishop Blair in their native Italian that they were celebrating their 52nd wedding anniversary that very day! Bishop Blair responded in Italian that he was so pleased and offered his blessing on their anniversary.
The Sisters then had a special private luncheon with the Priests and Bishops, where Mother Cecilia shared with them her thoughts on the Little Sisters and showed them a new video “Who is Jeanne Jugan?” about the founding of the order. Everyone had a great time and we were blessed by the friendships deepened with our Priests and Bishops.
