This year the theme of our Pride in Food Service Week at our Home was “Wishing and Dreaming.” Becky Massey, our food service director, planned a special event each day of the week featuring foods and fun for our Residents. On Monday and Tuesday, a French Buffet and an Italian Buffet were prepared by Gordon Foods, one of our food providers. Then on Wednesday, we had a very special “Dreamy Dessert” contest which was judged by Mary Bilyeu, Food Editor of the Toledo Blade. Mary along with four other judges sampled over a dozen different desserts and declared our Resident Imogene Ward the winner with her homemade Pecan Rolls! Mary Bilyeu even featured the dessert contest in The Toledo Blade. Click here to read her article >>
Later Wednesday evening a “Disney Sweetheart Ball” was held for our Residents and a Disney Princess contest was held. On Thursday a “Tropical Food Fair” was setup for lunch and then on Friday a “Breakfast in Bed Brunch” was prepared at lunchtime and the winners of many of the week’s trivia contest were announced.
We want to thank our Food Service staff for all their hard work this past week and throughout the year. The many displays setup in the Cloister, fun contest held, and special themed dinners, meant a great deal to our Residents. Besides making delicious food each day, our food service staff members bring their smiles and enthusiasm to brighten each Resident’s day.
