“Thanks be to God!” We hear this phrase every Sunday, but do we stop and absorb what it really means? At Sacred Heart Home, we have a lot to be thankful for and it is only the start of summer. We thank God for the gifts he has given us and for the gifts not yet revealed. Here are a few of the gifts we are celebrating this month:
Sacred Heart Home’s Resident-Chaplain Fr. Joe Weigman celebrates his 25th anniversary of the priesthood June 8th. At Sacred Heart Home, we are both thankful and proud of Fr. Joe’s accomplishments. Fr. Joe reflected on what his 25 years of service means to him stating that, “Twenty-five years of mostly affirmation of that call as I’ve come to experience more of God and the grace He bestows among His people, even me.” A humble servant and a wonderful advocate for the Little Sisters, Fr. Joe is always the first to mention that he is “the Chaplain of Sacred Heart Home and a Resident.” In thanksgiving and in honor of Fr. Joe’s acceptance of God’s call, donations to our (Fr. Joe’s) Home can be made on our website here >> or by sending a check to our Home.
Our Little Sisters of the Poor Outing at the Mud Hens was a success! All week the weather forecasters predicted “rain.” Not a drizzle, but rain with a capital “R!” However, God answered our prayers and the day was lovely! 250 friends, Residents, and supports of the Home came out to watch the game and cheer as Sr. Margaret and Mother Jeanne took the field as Honorary Mud Hens’ Managers.
Finally, we praise God for the gift of our new Mother. Mother Jeanne Mary has quickly acclimated to life at the Sacred Heart Home. She can be seen greeting the Residents at lunchtime and visiting staff in the mornings. It is a blessing to have her.
