On St. Valentine’s Day the Little Sisters surprised the young men at St. Johns Jesuit High School and Academy by showing up as the guest morning news anchors on their SJTV4 television show. Srs. Cecilia and Margaret had a lot of fun reading the teleprompters and delivering the important news about an upcoming Prom Dance and the basketball scores to the students.
The students of St. Johns Jesuit had invited the Sisters to be the guest anchors on SJTV4 to also explain more about the Mission of the Little Sisters and accept a wonderful collection of needed items that the students had collected as a Lenten service project. The Sisters and students were both surprised when a local news crew from WNWO TV in Toledo showed up to cover the Lenten collection for their evening broadcast.
As the photos show, everyone was having a lot of fun with the Sisters and they in turn expressed their gratitude to the St. Johns community for their thoughtful donation. Sr. Cecilia said “It is wonderful that you young people think about the needs of the elderly. I know that our Residents at the Sacred Heart Home will greatly appreciate these donated items”. The outing ended with the students and Sisters loading up the donated items in our collection van.
During the next few weeks the Little Sisters will be doing a Lenten collection at each of the 5 area Catholic High Schools to benefit the Residents they serve.
