The St. Jeanne Jugan Award is given annually to an employee of the Home who embodies the Spirit and good work of the Little Sisters founder, St. Jeanne Jugan. This year this honor went to Rosanne Kalinowski, our activities director here at the Sacred Heart Home.
Rosanne accepted this award and shared her feelings with the Residents and staff gathered:
“As many of you know I have a small family. A few of them are here today, some are living farther away or working and could not be here. I just want you to know that all of you are considered my family. I’m blessed to be a part of this family. I try very hard to smile every day. I’ve been employed here for 22 years and I believe in the philosophy of Jeanne Jugan. Through my time here, I’ve grown to appreciate the words and Mission of Jeanne Jugan. Thank you for this honor, and it is an honor.
I encourage you all to strive to do your very best each day. Not only for the Residents, not only for the Seniors, not only for the Sisters, but towards each other as well. Let us love each other. Spread the Love of Christ in each of your encounters. I encourage you to do that as much as you can.”
Mother Cecilia shared with those gathered “Rosanne always has an enthusiasm in her work, and she readily shares that joy with the Residents. Even in a simple activity like Tuesday afternoon Bingo. She always calls the bingo numbers with great energy, even after 20+ years!” We are truly blessed to have Rosanne here directing the activities of the Residents.
