Paul Skiver, a loyal volunteer at our home, has been doing a unique service here since 2006. Paul organizes the Sacred Heart Home Men’s Club for card playing, camaraderie and social time with our male Residents.
In the summer Paul spends time fishing in our beautiful pond out back of the home, while the fall and winter finds him around the card table. Paul’s mother-in-law was a Resident of the home and he frequently came to visit with her. He started the Men’s Club as something for the guys at the home to participate in … away from the ladies! When Paul’s mother-in-law passed away, he continued his volunteering because as he says “I enjoy their company. I’ve been coming for so long I don’t want to quit.” The men in the club feel the same way and faithfully show up for their standing 10:30 a.m. Monday social times.
Thanks to Paul and all our faithful volunteers who work daily to make the Residents happy!
