“Service above self” is the International Rotary Club motto. Much like the Little Sisters of the Poor, Rotary International is devoted to bettering the communities it serves and strives to help others. On a recent Saturday morning many Rotarians from the local Rotary Club of Toledo helped fulfill that goal of service, by doing a spring cleanup of our grounds here at the Sacred Heart Home. The Community Service Committee of the Toledo Rotary Club, led by Bob Ampthor, did a great job in organizing this annual service project to benefit the Little Sisters.
The Rotarians, led by our Master Gardener – Bill Lindeman, helped to clean up and beautify the numerous flower beds around our Home, as well as the coy fish pond area. Some Rotarians also repaired a broken split rail fence on the property. These Rotarians did a great job and had a lot of fun working together on this service project. With over 40 acres of land at our Home we rely heavily on the volunteerism and the service of others to help us maintain our beautiful grounds.
The Rotary Club of Toledo and their Foundation have been generous in helping the Little Sisters over many years with grants that have allowed us to purchase new transport vehicles and computer equipment for our Home. We want to thank Rotary for all it has done for us and so many others in our community, and wish them many more years of success.
