With great enthusiasm the “NET Team” made up of Catholic youth from around the entire country visited our Home to meet our Sisters and Residents.
They had a wonderful visit with our Sisters and learned about the history of the Little Sisters of the Poor and our founding by St. Jeanne Jugan. Then they entertained our Residents at an ice cream social in our auditorium. Lively music and some funny skits were performed by the group, which made our Residents smile with joy. One of our Residents, Nick, even danced through one of the songs performed by this youthful group. The young missionaries also joined the Sisters in the Chapel for a Holy Hour and evening prayer. All of the Residents and Sisters were so grateful for the spirit shared by this group of young people.
The Net Team that visited us is part of “NET Ministries”, whose Mission is to challenge young Catholics to love Christ and embrace the life of the Church. Every August, 150 young Catholics aged 18-28 leave behind their jobs, school, family, and friends to devote nine months to serving with the National Evangelization Teams (NET). The team that visited our Home was on a tour of all the area Catholic High Schools within the Toledo Diocese. They had just come from Marblehead, Ohio and were on their way to Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School. More information about this inspirational group can be found at http://www.netusa.org
We thank the young men and women who spent time with us and wish them many blessing on their ministry as they travel across our country bringing God’s love to those they meet.
