Our Residents had a very unique outing recently to the Liberty Aviation Museum located in Port Clinton, Ohio. This aviation museum located at the Erie-Ottawa Regional Airport is operated by a private foundation made up of aviation enthusiast in the Port Clinton area.
Our Residents were accompanied on this outing by nursing students from Lourdes University and they all greatly enjoyed viewing and learning about the many planes and military vehicles and items at the museum. Residents marveled at such planes as a WWII era B-25 Mitchell Bomber named “Georgie’s Gal” and a 1929 Ford Tri-motor plane, as well as WWII Royal Canadian Air Force trainer plan and an assortment of WWII military trucks and Jeeps. They also enjoyed having lunch at the “Tin Goose Diner” a 1950’s era themed diner.
The Liberty Aviation Museum has a wonderful web site at www.libertyaviationmuseum.org , which gives a lot of details about visiting and offers historical information about the collection on display.
