Becky & Dave Massey’s U.S. State Department grant cluster of high school exchange students, Mina Radonjic, Dina Teeti, Olga Borodko, Natalia Gaidarji, and fellow exchange student, Laura Comesana, spent an interesting day at our Home recently to do their Global Youth Service Day project.
When asked how the Home could be served, Mother Cecilia immediately thought of their preparations for the upcoming “Year of International Faith“. She asked that the students visit with the Residents, one on one, discussing how each resident felt about their faith, how faith has impacted their lives, and how important they thought faith would be in their grandchildren’s lives. The stories about faith that were gathered from these conversations with the Residents would then be combined in a booklet to be distributed for the “Year of International Faith.”
Dina, the award winning photographer of their group, also took pictures for the booklet. The group then gave presentations about their respective countries to the residents, sisters, and guests, making and serving country specific snacks. Afterwards they made a large felt banner for the Home to display during “Year of International Faith” celebrations in the future. It was an inspiring project day for the students and very educational for all.
