Yesterday our Home celebrated the Fourth of July with a simple, but profound ceremonial flag raising service. The Residents and Sisters gathered at our main entrance and weathered 100+ degree heat to join in the raising of our nations flag. The ceremony was lead by a group of veterans from nearby American Legion – Christ Dunberger Post 537 located right down the road from our Home.

Our Residents stated their independence by pledging their allegiance to the United State of America. Each Resident was given a small paper with the “Pledge of Allegiance” printed on it, to aid them. Yet, this gesture proved unnecessary, as the pledge was already written on their hearts and recited from many years of memories.
