Our Home was blessed recently with a visit from “Champions in Action,” a group of youth and their parents from St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church. These energetic young people and their families conducted a May Crowning of Mary in our chapel and stayed for a fun game of bingo with the Residents. They brought many smiles to the faces of our Residents!
“Champions in Action” was founded by Chris Drouillard in the spring of 2011. Chris coached basketball, baseball, softball and football at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns for over 20 years before losing his battle with cancer in July, 2011. “Champions in Action” carries on his mission, using his vision, as he wanted this organization to be his legacy. The group aims to create volunteer opportunities for St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Junior High and Senior High athletes, students and their families to participate in meaningful service projects and programs within the parish and extended community consistent with Catholic Social Justice Teaching.
We are very grateful for this groups service to the elderly here at the Sacred Heart Home and hope they will return soon.
