This past week the students of two of our local Catholic high schools; St. John’s Jesuit High School and St. Francis de Sales High School, both conducted an annual Lenten Collection to benefit the Residents here at the Sacred Heart Home.
St. John’s Jesuit students collected such items as body wash soaps, deodorant, shampoo, hand lotions, and mouth wash for use by our Residents. Two of our Sisters made an early morning visit to St. Johns and were featured as the guest news anchors on SJTV- 4 Titan News, the all student run TV station at their school. Sr. Andrea and Sr. Margaret did a great job delivering the news and sports to the entire student body on the morning news show. Afterwards the students helped the Sisters load up their collecting van with all the donated items. The Sisters were amazed at how much was collected, a whole van full of items for our Residents!
Later in the same week the Knights of St. Francis de Sales high school donated hundreds of boxes of Kleenex tissues for our Residents here at the Sacred Heart Home. Students were asked to each bring in boxes of Kleenex to help our Residents. The Sisters really enjoyed talking with the students when they loaded up our collecting van from top to bottom… a whole year’s supply of Kleenex for our Residents!
The Little Sisters and Residents wish to express sincere thanks to the students and parents of both the St. John’s Jesuit and St. Francis de Sales communities for these thoughtful and much appreciated donations.
