Recently we hosted the 6th annual Little Sisters Day at the Mud Hens event on a beautiful spring evening at Fifth Third Field in downtown Toledo. We had 275 friends and family members join us for some great food, good fellowship, and fun baseball.
The evening began with a delicious barbeque picnic of hamburgers and hot dogs, baked beans, chips, and pasta salad. Before the game started everyone watched as Mother Alice Marie and Sister Margaret were introduced on the field as the “Managers for the Day!” The Sisters had a lot of fun walking out to home plate with Larry Parish, manager for the Toledo Mud Hens, and exchanging line ups with the opposing manager of the Buffalo Bisons. Larry Parish commented that “the Sisters would bring the team good luck tonight!”
Our guests then settled in for a great evening of baseball. The Mud Hens battled hard with the score being tied for most of the game, until the 8th inning when the Bisons pulled ahead to win 9-5. Even though the home team lost, everyone had a great time at the game.
This fun filled event brought many smiles to the faces of our Residents and the guests who attended. Many thanks go out to the wonderful sponsors of this event. All proceeds from this event went to help support the care of our Residents at the Sacred Heart Home.
